OK, a bit of a morbid topic, but with the second half of the seventh season of The Walking Dead in full swing… (yes that’s a deliberate Lucille pun!) we were wondering about all the death. I mean, the clue is in the title of the show, but this has got to be one of the goriest shows ever, right?
In case you were interested, there is actually an ongoing record of how many deaths there are in TWD. The list goes on named characters (that can be people, named walkers or
- Season 1 – 28
- Season 2 – 22
- Season 3 – 81
- Season 4 – 111
- Season 5 – 46
- Season 6 – 90
- Season 7 so far – 10
Want to know who’s killed the most? Of course you do!
Well here goes:
So, all this leads us to our ultimate question… which death was the saddest? Some were sad but necessary, others were shockingly unexpected, yet more were heart-wrenching… But which, dear reader, was the saddest… it’s up to you to decide. Vote for the saddest below:
(if you need a quick reminder of the deaths, scroll down to the bottom where we’ve listed a handy guide to help you with your decision)
OK, if you’re still not sure which you think is the saddest and have forgotten some of these deaths (wow… how desensitised are we now?), here’s a quick refresher:
Hershel – beheaded by The Governor, he was a good man and his loss was felt by all, especially his two daughters Maggie and Beth who had to watch this unfold.
Abraham – Picked by Negan to pay the price for the attack by Rick et al on one of The Saviour’s outposts, he took his beating like a champ. It wasn’t pretty to watch.
Glenn – With Rick since the second episode, hardcore fans should have known his death was coming, but we all thought he might have got away with it when Negan initially chose Abraham as suffering the punishment in the woods.
Sophia – The mystery of the disappearance of Carol’s daughter, Sophia, was finally solved when Shane opened the doors of Hershel’s barn to let out the collected walkers… Last through the door was little zombified Sophia.
Beth – Her death at the hands of the scary hospital lot was sudden (she was shot in retaliation for stabbing , but it was probably the emotional outpouring from hardened characters Daryl and Carol that got us blubbing!
Andrea – OK, she shacked up with The Governor, but she really tried her best to steer him towards a more sane path. She died when The Governor set her up to be bitten. She shot herself, with dear friend Michonne by her side.
Mika – Stabbed to death by her older sister, Lizzie, see below…
Lizzie – Possibly one of the grittiest storylines, the psychological trauma of growing up during the zombie apocalypse had to take its toll on the children of TWD. Lizzie became obsessed with walkers and wanted to prove to Carol that they could get along. So she stabbed her little sister so that she would turn and she could prove her theory… Carol’s darkest moment came when she realised that Lizzie was too much of a danger to herself and others to live… “Dark” doesn’t even cover it.
