We took a look at the best selling kids books for July and were really pleased to see an eclectic mix of classics, modern stories and some of our favourite characters of all time! Here’s a rundown of the top ten:
10. Going To Nursery, Catherine Anholt and Laurence Anholt
Anna and Tom discover what it’s like to start nursery. A really cute introduction to what it’s like to go to nursery. A favourite for kids and adults alike.
9. Small Knight and George and the Royal Chocolate Cake, Ronda Armitage
There’s a royal party and a big chocolate cake which gets stolen by some cheeky robber-brigands. Can Small Knight and George the Dragon retrieve the cake in time for the royal party?
8. Guess How Much I Love You, Sam McBratney
Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare share their way of describing how much they love each other. A heartwarming modern classic that is an ideal gift for new babies or christenings.
7. In a Minute Mum, A H Benjamin and Nick East
Rory the dinosaur is always in a hurry. He leaves everything to the last minute, much to the annoyance of his family. A humorous tale to make kids realise why sometimes they need to do things fast!
6. Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll
This timeless tale of nonsense and curiosity is still charming children, 150+ years after it was first published. Alice’s adventures involve chasing the white rabbit and encountering weird and wonderful characters along the way.
5. Peppa Goes on Holiday, Ladybird Books
We know why this is selling so well at the moment – everyone’s off on their summer holidays. And we’re stuck here wondering when the rain will stop! This exciting story sees Peppa’s Teddy have his own adventure!
4. Chameleon’s Crazy Colours
Beautifully illustrated, this story about Chameleon and his colours going slightly awry. Which wouldn’t be so bad, but Lion is on the prowl. Can Chameleon’s friends Monkey and Meerkat help him?
3. The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster, David Conway
Little Miss Muffet wants to be in a new nursery rhyme. So she sets off to find one. Which sets off a series of chaotic events in the nursery rhyme world. Featuring the best-known nursery rhyme characters, this is a lovely new take on some old favourites.
2. Dustbin Dad, Peter Bently
Dad will eat any leftover food. Anything at all. Until he accidentally wolfs down the cat’s Puss-Pep Up Powder… Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens next. Needless to say, it’s pretty hilarious!
1. Mog The Forgetful Cat, Judith Kerr
Remember this one? “Bother that cat!”. Mog is still as popular as ever. Even if she is a bit forgetful. What cat forgets she has a cat flap?! We just love Mog the Cat.
